Weekly Wellness Class Schedule
CHEW'S Fall 2026 Weekly Wellness Classes begin Monday, August 31st. Check out the class locations on RoyalSync, IM Leagues or email chew@scranton.edu. Drop-in classes taught by professional instructors to promote stress relief and increase strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. Classes are free and open to students, staff and faculty.

Guided Mindfulness Meditation- Monday 5:00 pm-5:30 pm Weiss Hall Well-being Room
Instructor: Lisa Rigau MS, BSN, RN, Healthy Lifestyle Management
Pause, recharge, and reconnect with yourself. This 30-minute guided meditation class offers a welcoming space to step away from the demands of classes, work, and everyday life. Learn simple, evidence-based mindfulness practices that can help reduce stress, improve focus, build resilience, and support overall well-being. Whether you're new to meditation or have an established practice, you'll leave each session with practical techniques to bring greater calm, balance, and presence into your day.
Drop-in Pickleball*- Open hours for Pickleball on your own. Tuesdays 12-1
Join us for America’s fastest-growing sport and play with colleagues! In collaboration with Rec Sports, drop-in Pickleball will be held on Tuesdays from 12-1 p.m. in the Byron Gym courts for staff and faculty. No experience is necessary, and all skill levels are welcome. Please email chew@scranton.edu if you are new to the sport and needing guidance or to get on the Pickleball list
Calm & Strong Yoga- Tuesday 5:30 pm-6:15 pm- Weiss Hall Well-being Room
Instructor: Miranda Miaris
Calm & Strong Yoga Calm is a weekly invitation to slow down, soften, and reset your nervous system. This is a Yin and Restorative yoga practice, featuring slow, steady, floor-based postures to gently release tension in the body and calm the mind. This class is open to everyone. There are no physical requirements, and no prior yoga experience is needed.

Unwind after a busy day in this calming 45-minute evening yoga class designed for all experience levels. Through a blend of mindful movement, gentle yoga, restorative poses, breathwork, and mindfulness techniques, you'll release stress, restore balance, and build the focus and resilience. End your day feeling refreshed, centered, and relaxed, with a greater sense of calm to support a restful night's sleep.
Functional Movement Yoga- Wednesday 12:15 pm -12:45 pm- Weiss Hall Well-being Room
Instructor: Nicole Kreidler
Recharge your midday with this 30-minute lunchtime class designed to build strength, increase mobility, and energize your body. Flow continuously through standing and floor-based sequences that link movement with breath, helping you activate the muscles that support you in daily life. Take this time for yourself to enhance body awareness, focus, and functional strength, keeping you grounded, present, and strong throughout your day. This is best for those looking for a more active class.
Functional Fitness: Strength & Mobility for Everyday Life: (formerly Light Weights & Abs*)- Wednesdays 5pm- Royals Room Byron Gym *Staff & Faculty only class
Instructor: Maribeth Smith
This energizing, full body fitness class is designed to enhance strength, flexibility, and balance for everyday activities. Exercises include a variety of standing and floor-based movements using body weight, light weights, and resistance bands, but can also be performed without equipment. Modifications and intensity options will be offered. Light weights and mats will be available, and participants are encouraged to bring their own resistance bands. Expect a fun total body workout! Class takes place in Byron Royals Room
Empowered Yoga Flow- Thursdays 5:30 pm -6:15pm- Weiss Hall Well-being Room
Instructor: Miranda Miaris
Empowered Yoga (Thursdays) Empowered Yoga is designed to build strength, stability, and confidence, both physically and mentally. This class blends intentional movement with mind-to-muscle awareness to help you feel present, empowered, and strong. You can expect a moderately active class that focuses on functional strength, mobility, and alignment. Modifications and options are always offered so you can move in a way that feels right for your body. The pace is intentional and accessible, allowing you to challenge yourself while still honoring rest when needed.

Yoga for Stress & Tension Relief- Fridays 12:15-12:50 pm-
Instructor: Kim Dempsey
Yoga for Stress & Tension Relief: is a nervous system–supportive class focused on easing physical and mental stress. Through slow, mindful movement, grounding breathwork, and gentle stretches, participants release tension held in the neck, shoulders, hips, and low back. The class promotes a sense of spaciousness, grounding, and connection, leaving participants with lasting calm beyond the mat.
